On Saturday before USC faced Texas A&M, emergency medicine physicians Zach Kiker, MD and Laura Nolting, MD accepted game balls on behalf of Prisma Health in recognition of the outstanding care provided to the Midlands community. Before the game, Dr. Nolting was interviewed by Brad Muller from USC Athletics for the Gamecock Sports Network.

In January we held our Alumni Reunion at Park City, Utah. The reunion coincided with a 3rd Rock Ultrasound course put on by Tom Cook as well as Rob Ferre, one of our previous ultrasound fellows. John Stewart Award!Dr. Stoneking graduated from residency at Richland in 2008. She currently serves as program director of the Banner - University Medical Center South Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Stoneking completed a clinician scientist program (two-year mentored faculty development program)

We recently sent a team of attendings and residents over to Blantyre, Malawi. We rotated over a 2 month period to provide coverage for ultrasound training and engage in clinical practice in a large regional hospital. We had a fun time in San Francisco with some of our PHR alumni joining our current senior residents at ACEP. The classes of 2016, 2019, 2021, and 2022 were represented. Zach Hunter (class of 2021) is finishing his PEM fellowship at Wake Forest and will be joining us at Richland next year. It is always great catching up and reminiscing on past and present experiences.

Ranomafana, Madagascar - After travelling for 4 days we finally made it to our destination. Dr. Neil Andrews (class of 2010) was involved in an accident recently and has a long road of recovery ahead. Neal is strong, determined, and resilient. Many of our residents had the opportunity to present their case reports/research at Discover USC.  We had 9 posters at the University of South Carolina medical scholars day on Friday.  The ED was well represented.  Overall it was a good experience for the residents and well received. 2 of our posters won awards.  Travis Corriher  and Laura Nolting won 1st place for their Midline catheter  project

We were excited to welcome 13 residents to our program on March 18th. The class of 2025 hails from South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Georgia, California, and Illinois.
